Determining if your Intern contributes CPF

Understanding if CPF contributions apply to your Intern is the first step to figuring out what settings to choose for your Intern for them in Talenox.

Do refer here to check if your intern is in one of the exempted groups of individuals.

1) Intern CPF contributions are not needed

For an intern who does not need to contribute to CPF, here are the steps you'll follow to input these settings into the system:

  • Head to Profiles > Manage my database > Employee Listing > Edit (employee's profile) > Identification Documents.
  • You'll be able to set the Immigration Status to the "Intern" option. This will automatically remove any CPF, SDL and SHG calculations for this employee.

2) Intern CPF contributions are needed

For an intern who needs to contribute to CPF, here are the steps you'll follow to input these settings into the system:

  • Head to Profiles > Manage my database > Employee Listing > Edit (employee's profile) > Identification Documents.
  • Set the Immigration Status to "Singapore Citizen" option. This will automatically calculate CPF, SDL and SHG contributions for this employee.
  • For clarity, include the employee's "Intern" title into their Current Job Details within the employee profile

Note: If you have changed these profile settings midway through processing payroll, do remember to refresh a record of the employee in payroll 😄
