Created in December 2000, the Mandatory Provident Fund (“MPF”) System was set up as a retirement protection model for the Hong Kong population. It is managed by the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA).
It is similar to Singapore's Central Provident Fund Scheme (CPF).
