2026 SOCSO New Policy Update

The government has announced the implementation of the Skim Lindung 24 Jam (24-Hour Protection Scheme), which will take effect on 1st June 2026.

LINDUNG 24 Jam is introduced to provide round-the-clock protection for eligible employees throughout their employment period, including coverage for accidents that occur outside working hours and are not directly related to their job or duties.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive protection for accidents not related to employment

  • 24-hour coverage for employees

  • Cost of medical treatment financed by PERKESO

Contributions are fully borne by employees. Employee contribution rates will be implemented in phases:

Phase 1 (2026 – 2027 (First 2 years)

0.75%

2028 – 2030

1.0%

2031 onwards

1.25%

This is mandatory and fully borne by employees. Employers shall pay contributions on behalf of employees for as long as the employee remains employed with them.

Under the Skim Lindung 24 Jam policy, SOCSO coverage will be extended to non-work-related incidents, including:

  • Accidents at home (e.g. slips and falls)

  • Weekend or daily commuting incidents (e.g. driving)

  • Accidents during shopping (e.g. malls, supermarkets)

  • Injuries during sports or physical activities

Excluded Cases:

  • Accidents happening outside the territory of Malaysia

  • Insured Persons (OB) who are foreign workers that misuse valid passes or permits issued by the Director General of Immigration or violate any conditions of entry under the Immigration Act 1959 / 63 [Act 155].

  • Self-employment injuries under Act 789.

  • Domestic injuries under Act 838.

  • Conditions caused by any illness such as diabetes, fever, high blood pressure, and others.
