Here’s how you can make the most of these features:

Holidays, including public and statutory holidays, often come with specific system restrictions in Talenox that prevent leave applications on designated dates. These features help ensure compliance with organizational and regional policies.

Override Public Holidays

If you need to apply leave on a public holiday, use the 'Edit Working Days' feature in Talenox. This allows you to mark the specific day as a Working Day for leave applications. This needs to be enabled in the system.

By default, Talenox restricts leave applications on public and statutory holidays to maintain compliance with leave policies.

Enable Flexible Working Day Settings

Allow employees to manage their working days directly in the leave application process—ideal for those with irregular schedules or who work on public holidays.

Alternatively, Off-in-Lieu (OIL) can be allocated for employees needing flexibility, which compensates for restricted leave on public holidays.

How to enable this feature:

  1. Go to Account & Preferences > Organisation > Leave > Leave Application

  2. Toggle on “Allow employees to edit working days”

  3. During leave application, employees can use the “Edit” button under Working Days to select from the following options:

    • Working Full Day

    • Working First Half of Day

    • Working Second Half of Day

    • Not Working

    • Holiday

    • Holiday (on Working Day)

Editing Working Days During Leave Applications

Employees can manually adjust their working days to ensure leave is tracked accurately, especially around public holidays.

Steps:

  1. In the leave application, select the Leave Duration and Leave Type.

  2. Click Edit under Working Days.

  3. Choose the appropriate working status (see list above).

  4. Save your changes and complete the leave request.

Adding Custom Company Holidays

Internal company holidays can be added and are treated as fully paid days—leave cannot be applied on these days.

These are distinct from public holidays, which may be governed by statutory leave rules and cannot be modified without adjusting the holiday settings.

Steps:

  1. Go to Profiles > Manage My Database > Company Details > Upcoming Holidays

  2. Click “Show more and manage”

  3. Select “Add Custom Holiday” and provide the holiday name and duration.

  4. Save the custom holiday.

These steps will help ensure your leave management system in Talenox is flexible, accurate, and suited to your organization’s unique needs—especially during public holiday periods or with non-standard work schedules.

Additionally, these solutions maintain compliance with regional leave policies while providing flexibility for differing organizational needs.
