To set up Custom leave types (e.g. Study Leave) for your employees, head to Leave > Manage my leave policies > Settings > 'Leave Types' tab > New Leave Type:

Two generic templates can be used flexibly and renamed:

1) General Leave

This leave type is suitable for leave that requires leave entitlement proration from an employee's hire/resign date, with an option for rollover of balance and increment with complete years of service.

The settings to configure a 'General Leave' type are very similar to an 'Annual Leave' type set up in the system. You can refer to these guides for a full breakdown of the options available for Annual Leave set up in Talenox:

The only difference is that you can set how the General Leave type is paid out to employees in payroll, directly in the leave type settings.

Simply head to the "Customise value of entitlement.." option in the General Leave type settings. You will find that there are 3 options you can set:

  • Unpaid - Leave applied for will be an unpaid leave deduction from payroll

  • Paid - Leave applied for will be a fully paid leave type in payroll

  • Paid and Encashable - Leave applied for will be a fully paid leave type in payroll. Any unused leave will be encashed during the employee's month of resignation automatically in payroll.

2) Recurring Time Off

This leave type is suitable for leave that is given in fixed quantity on a recurring basis (replenished weekly/monthly/yearly) without any proration. Common examples are Compassionate Leave and Flexible Time Off.
