The following are some frequently asked questions that we often encounter:

1. "Could you clarify which category of PERKESO we need to update for foreigners in Talenox?"

2. "Kindly review whether the SOCSO calculation for employees above 60 years old can be automated."

3. "I’d like to confirm the implementation of the new PERKESO updates. Does this mean we only need to update the PERKESO settings in the employee profile?"

Below, you'll find responses to frequently asked questions that we often encounter.

The SOCSO calculation in Talenox is automated for employees, regardless of whether they are below or above 60 years old.

This automated calculation also applies to foreign employees.

For Local Employees

In the Employee's Profile, simply head to Statutory Details and update the SOCSO setting field.

To ensure that the SOCSO calculation is automated based on the local employee's age, you will need to choose "Automatic scheme selection based on age" option.

This option will also check the employee's Birthdate field. Therefore, do ensure the employee's Date of Birth is populated accurately.

-----

By choosing this option, another field - SOCSO First Contribution Date will be displayed.

This field is completely optional.

if no date is populated, we will assume that the employee is already contributing to SOCSO.

This is to determine whether the employee is making his/her first contribution when he/she reaches 55 years old.

For Foreign Employees

For non-Malaysian residents (foreigners), SOCSO calculation will be automated once you have selected the "Foreign Workers Social Security" (or FWSS) option.

Based on the updated SOCSO policy by PERKESO - "obligation of employers who are employing foreign workers, including expatriates and foreign domestic workers, to ensure their foreign workers are covered under the Invalidity Scheme" (effective on 1 July 2024):

the FWSS option will auto-calculate the SOCSO amount based on:

  • 1st Category Contribution (Employment Injury Scheme and Invalidity Scheme) for foreign employees under the age of 55 years old

  • 2nd Category Contribution (Employment Injury Scheme) for foreign employees who have reached 55 years old when they first enter the PERKESO scheme or have reached 60 years old and are still working
